THE TABOR CITY HIGH SCHOOL
ALUMNI REUNION
October 26, 2019

The Tabor City High School Alumni Reunion for the first time since 1992 will not be held in the 1928 Auditorium on the old Tabor City High School Campus, now known as Tabor City Elementary School.  The Alumni Association and the Class of 1969 have reserved The Ritz Center from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2019 which is Yam Festival Day.

Alumni are encouraged to arrive in downtown Tabor City by 8:00 a.m. since the parade starts at 10:00 a.m.

Matthew Smith, Chairman of Building and Grounds at Tabor City Baptist Church has indicated that the lot which fronts on Live Oak Street and East Fourth Street adjacent to the old A & P Store, which is now the location of Tabor City Health and Fitness Center will be available for the Alumni to park.   From that vacant lot, which was the site of the Craven and Bessie Wright Fowler home, it is a short walk to The Ritz Theater.   The Alumni would walk across the lot which was used for parking for The Todd House and it would therefore be a short walk to The Ritz.  The Alumni will be encouraged to gather there and let that be headquarters since it has restrooms and is very close to the food vendors, the exhibits and the parade.

The Class of 1969 will present the program in The Ritz beginning at 2:00 o’clock p.m.   Typically the Alumni begin gathering for that event by 1:00 o’clock p.m.

After the conclusion of the Tabor City High School Alumni Reunion usually around 3:30 or 4:00 o’clock p.m., the round tables will be brought in and the chairs will be rearranged and the Class of 1969 will have its 50th Reunion in The Ritz, beginning at 5:00 p.m.

It should be a very special day and while we regret that the condition of the old 1928 Auditorium will not permit us to have the  Reunion at that location, we are very fortunate to have The Ritz Center downtown near Fowlers Grill and Fonvielle Feed Store to serve as our headquarters all day.

Donnie Hardee, Teresa McCumbee Long, Geraldine Booth and Sheila Suggs-Little are working very hard as the Committee for the Class of 1969 50th Reunion to make sure we have an outstanding program for the Alumni.

If there are any questions or additional information is needed please do not hesitate to contact Richard Wright at 910-653-2082.

W.H. Morris, Class of 1963 will have the Depot Museum open from around 8:00 o’clock a.m. until around 11:00 o’clock a.m. to view the wonderful model of Tabor City prepared by Dalton Anderson Class of 1952 and to see memorabilia contributed by Jimmy Garrell Class of 1953.
